Madeleine Tinson
Madeleine Tinson was born in Mombasa, Kenya, moved to England in 1962 and worked as a laboratory technician. She married Michael Tinson who's career took them around the country. She created a garden at each new location, and is now living in Perth Scotland.
Madeleine describes herself as an amateur gardener with a passion for lilies especially North Hybrids, holding the National Collection of Mylnefield lilies. She began collecting rare hybrid lilies in 2008. In November of 2011 she was awarded the status of National Plant Collection for her Mylnefield lilies. Madeleine holds a fascinating historic National Plant Collection of Lilium (Mylnefield lilies), in Perth & Kinross. This extensive collection of the increasingly rare but colourful Mylnefield Lilies is planted in borders, containers and in a lily house. Sited within 1 acre of beautiful gardens.
A member of Plants Heritage, she is the Collection Coordinator for Grampian and Tayside and the Regional Coordinator for the North of England. As a Committee member of the RHS Lily Group her task is to promote Conservation.
Madeleine describes lilies as the perfect plant, in that they are diverse, intriguingly beautiful, a challenge to grow and can fill the air with wonderful perfume.
