Lily Show

Horticulture Division | Floral Design Division | Photo Contest

The centerpiece of the North American Lily Society annual International Lily Show and Symposium is the Lily Show. This year the annual Lily Show will be held in Burnstein Hall at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The Chicago Botanic Garden opened 50 years ago as a beautiful place to visit, and it has matured into one of the world's great living museums and conservation science centers. It is located at 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe, IL 70022.

If you wish to participate in the show, you will need a unique Exhibitor Number that you can assign to each Horticulture stem, collection of Horticulture stems you wish to exhibit at the show, or each Floral Design Division entry. A list of exhibitor numbers will be available in the staging area of the lily show.

We encourage you to Register for the 73rd Annual International Lily Show & Symposium. You will be given a unique Registrant/Exhibitor number that you can assign to each entry you wish to exhibit at the show. Please note: You can also click on the CONFERENCE REGISTRATION! button on the far-right side of this page to register for the conference.

Have you misplaced your unique Registrant/Exhibitor number that you need to assign to each Horticulture or Floral Design Division entry? A list of assigned and open exhibitor numbers will be available in the staging area of the lily show. You can also find your Registrant/Exhibitor number printed on the name tags for every registrant at the conference.

The Horticulture division of the lily show has inspiring classes for seedlings, named single stem lilies, as well as a challenging class for a remarkable collection of lilies. Awards from each section of the show schedule will lead to the selection of the “Top Awards” for the Horticulture Division of the Lily Show. Are you an experienced flower arranger? A novice? Or in between? Awaken your creative spirit with an exhibit in the Floral Design section of the Lily Show. Kim Peterson, our Floral Design coordinator, has turned the Floral Design Division into an Exhibition Show this year! Top designs will be determined with ballots cast by Show attendees.

A few informational items:

  • All designs are open to any amateur or professional designer.
  • There is no pre-registration. Just stop by Burnstein Hall in the Regenstein Center at the Chicago Botanic Garden on Thursday, July 6 from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm or Friday, July 7 from 8:00 am to 9:00 am to submit your floral design. You are welcome to retrieve your design at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9.
  • We do have some space constraints. Exhibit space may not exceed 24” in width or depth.
  • We will provide containers, your choice of plant material, fresh and or dried, and true lilies for your exhibit. You are also welcome to bring your own containers, plant material and lilies. Your personal properties should be labeled. NALS, any regional society, or the Chicago Botanic Gardens are NOT responsible for a loss, damage, or theft.
  • NALS will give a monetary award for the “People’s Choice” winner chosen by Show attendees.

Be part of it! Jump in and try your hand at creating something to add to the Lily Show. Make your travel plans to arrive on Thursday, July 6, and spend the afternoon, or evening, meeting other designers from across North America. Challenge and stretch your imagination while creating a new design at the 73rd Annual International Lily Show!

Photo Contest

Photo Contest

The Photo Contest, at the North American Lily Society - Lily Show, is open to all members as well as non-members. All photos must feature "true" lilies (genus Lilium). Photos may be of a single lily flower or multiple flowers, a single lily plant or multiple plants grouped in a flowerbed. Close-ups are acceptable as long as the photo clearly depicts the subject as a member of the genus Lilium.

There are two divisions; the Competition Division is open to amateur photographers only, and the Exhibition Division is open to all photographers and any previously entered photographs. Learn more about the Photo Contest by downloading the 2023 Photography Contest Entry Information.
